Glorious day – there are early risers and the not so early risers! – a select group of particular travellers partake in morning exercise under the direction of Lyn, the yoga master - Mihae the Curly joins them – Others of a different exercise allegiance practice Tai Chi - the less spiritually inclined partake in coffee and await the arrival of breakfast - breakfast is rowdy and satisfactory in all respects.
The travellers are off-loaded to the bus - the bus has the bikes in tow – 15
kilometres to the south of Tulcea – the bikes are unloaded and fitted to their human masters – the seating positions are tested and the wind farm commented upon.
The group is off - Mihae the bearded at the front - Mihae the curly at the rear - Downhill for 5 k – smooth road – inclusive
traffic – a regroup at the village – the locals interested in the passing of the travellers - Buna dimineata - Buna dimineata to local after local – bike riders not yet common enough to become the norm in this part of Romania!
Turn North – towards the protected biosphere – wheat
crops and winds turbines – a few waves in the road – we lookout towards the lagoon
– birds pointed out by Mihae the bearded – blue coloured Roller – Bee Eaters – Kingfisher – Pelican –
Past vineyards - more wheat crops - more wind turbines.
Past vineyards - more wheat crops - more wind turbines.
The peleton progresses - it encounter some significant vertical waves in the road – through another
village – then it stops at an access restricted lagoon – it is stunned by the flight of geese that passes close overhead – it pushs on into the village of
conservative Russians refugees from the reforms of the Russian Orthodox Church - while the guides exercise their passion to limit the power of the social democratic to legitimise corruption the riders partake of ice-cream and beer – they talk - they rest - they engage with an Australian female rider - 1700 kilometres through Romania! - they are taken by her fortitude.
Onwards to the boat – reach the boat - cruise down the
Delta towards the Black Sea – relax – others venture into Sfântu Gheorghe.
Another delightful dinner – wonderful
people
