Sorrento - the Musical - 18th May

Old traveller are old travellers! – we cannot maintain the pace! – a day of rest is in order! – wake late – we rise a considerable time later – it is Saturday – only three things are on our agenda – lunch at O’Murzill – an evening musical – another drink of limoncello on the balcony with which we can toast the achievements of the poacher.

We have tried and tried to get a seat at O'Murzill but have failed on every occasion! – we will be there when they open! – our first objective is achieved – we are the first in line! – it is indeed a delightful little place – just one delightful waitress – one chef of distinction – a kitchen hand! – the food would be hard to distinguish from culinary excellence! – we enjoy the simple ambience – we enjoy the delightful waitress – we photograph the chef's quaint trophy from past days - we enjoy the food – gnocchi that is superior to any that I have experienced – fresh anchovies on pasta that caused Bernie to become painfully repetitive in her pronouncements on its excellence.

We will endeavour to repeat the experience before we depart Sorrento!

The afternoon is wasted away if napping and watching from the balcony can be considered aa waste – for a slow traveller it may well be considered as simply acting as a slow traveller should! – we ready ourselves – we head off the see “Sorrento – the musical” – local performers celebrating the musical tradition of the Neopolitans.

A great crowd – a good – a joyful – a funny - performance – Bernie gets to play the triccaballacca – we all get to sing.

We finish the night – a chat with the poacher – a chat with the dispenser in Davide’s Gellarteria – a sample of his wares – a limoncello on the balcony.
